Hey everyone, and Welcome!
I'll go ahead and introduce myself to all those who are joining us for the first time and give ya some background about me.
I'm Emily, owner of Lucky Day Homestead.
My passion is guiding folks and visitors to acknowledge a simpler way of living, teach from trial and error, years of experience and learning from elders.
I grew up less than a mile from my grandparents dairy farm... where my mother taught me to cook and bake and be a respectful adult..., younger years were spent in the gardens, raspberry patch, wood mill, barn or fields and occasionally into the woods for a walk.
Through my 20s and 30s I had the honor of working in local restaurants, on construction crews, managing and outdoor outfitter, guiding groups on river trips or hiking excursions... owning a restaurant, a baker, a Airbnb host... Raised and butchered my animals while the kids were young, working full time but still driving at the homestead lifestyle....being a mom (my favorite experience)... and all the while keeping my vision of one day becoming fully self sustainable at this Homestead.
In 2022 I closed my restaurant, came home and vowed not to leave again, organically.... Lucky Day Homestead is coming to fruition.
Its not without tears at stress at times, the "oh crap" button gets pushed as often as the "easy" button... but its mine! I'm HOME!
Everyday a new challenge, a crazy off the wall job or task ... im using all of my life skills... all my creativity.. every ounce, and staying true to the way I want to live.
I appreciate showing people how to leave a lighter footprint, how to be softer as humans... connect with nature and be less dependent on the government for answers on how to heal or feed ourselves.
So that's me, I'm glad you're laughing along with me, learning from my experiences and I'm grateful to have you join and follow along.
